The Association of Pension Desk Practitioners of Nigeria started on November 8, 2016 with its annual conference held in Abuja with theme The New Pension Act 2014- The Implementation Hurdles for Nigerian Employees. Since then the ASSOPEP holds its annual conference in Abuja in November every year.

The Association of Pension Desk Practitioners of Nigeria is born out of the necessity to contribute in solution of some serious problems affecting pension industry in Nigeria namely:

  • Many workers are unable to access their pension early after retirement
  • Some are not able to complete their pension documentation properly thus denying themselves the right to their Retirement Savings Account
  • Huge Pension arrears of Pension by states under the defined pension scheme
  • Non Remittance of deducted contributed pension to PFA/PFC by state actors
  • Huge Fraud and Mismanagement of Pension Fund
  • High incidence of Ghost Pensioners
  • Lack of capacity to deliver by Pension Desk Administrators
  • Lack of professionalism of Pension Practitioners

The Association was officially registered on 20th May 2020 RC 146419 by CAC of Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The Association Objectives includes

  1. To enhance the expertise of Pension Desk Officers
  2. To have a forum to enlighten our members on Pension matters
  3. Update members on recent developments about programmed withdrawal and Annuity
  4. Discuss better ways of handling death benefits
  5. Equip members on rights and privileges of RSA holders
  6. Enlighten members on management, regulation and updates on the current pension scheme
  7. To assist members to know the nitty-gritty of pension administration
  8. To assist members to be professional in handling pension matters
  9. To train members and the public about ore-retirement and post retirement planning.
  10. To equip members with working tools for pension management
  11. To expose members on current trends in pension administration
